Frequently Asked Questions
The Video Doorbell allows users to see, hear, and speak with visitors at their door via the SecureComm2 app. It provides live video, motion detection, two‑way audio, push notifications, and local chime support, all integrated into the existing alarm ecosystem.
No. You must sign the customer up for a SecureComm package that includes a Video Doorbell subscription in order to use the Video Doorbell.
Yes, but for now you will need to contact us to upgrade the customer's SecureComm package to support a VIdeo Doorbell product. Please contact Security & Risk on +353-1-4567077 to do this.
No. The Video Doorbell must be accessed via a control panel that is connected to the SecureComm service. We will allow for this option in future versions.
Most installers find the installation process to be straightforward and familiar, comparable to other video doorbells on the market. We have included a Quick Start Guide in the box with useful links to installation guides and videos.
Tip: Ensure the device is fully charged before onboarding if you are planning to use it on battery only. THe Doorbell is shipped in a fully charged state but the battery may have depleted slightly while in storage.
Yes. changing Wi‑Fi requires physical access to the device to load factory defaults and initiate re‑onboarding.
Yes. The unit supports:
- Internal rechargeable battery
- 12-24V DC supply
- 8-24V AC Supply
- Existing doorbell transformer (where compatible)
- If the device is powered by battery only, the battery will need to be charged periodically via a USB-C charger & cable.
For optimum battery performance, we recommend the following:
- In Motion Settings, turn off Motion detection - in this case the doorbell will only operate if someone presses the Ring button. Assuming 2 doorbell activations per day with 30 second recorded clips, the battery should last approximately 6 months.
- If motion settings are enabled, reduce the Motion Sensitivity to avoid picking up false detections of motion.
- In Record Settings, enable the "Automatic Clip Length Mode" option and reduce the Recording length time to 10 seconds.
- An average doorbell on battery power that has Motion detection enabled, with a recording length of 10 seconds and receiving a maximum of 10 activations per day (ring + motion events) will last approximately 6 months before needing a battery recharge.
- If a motion-enabled doorbell is placed in a high traffic area (greater than 10 activations per day), this will significantly affect the battery life of the device.
- We highly recommend powering the device from a permanent power supply for optimum performance and for full feature support.
No. The Video Doorbell does not trigger existing mechanical doorbells.
A dedicated wireless chime must be used; one is provided with each Video Doorbell. This allows the chime to be placed in an area of the property where it can be easily heard.
Up to six wireless chime units can be paired with a single Video Doorbell to improve audibility throughout the property.
Notifications are sent instantly from the SecureComm server and are generally very reliable.
There may be a short delay of a few seconds when accessing the video stream, as the user must first log in to the app. However, if biometric login is enabled, users can typically access the video stream and begin talking to the caller within approximately 10 seconds of receiving the notification.
Currently, alerts are delivered as push notifications, not phone‑style calls.
No. Only short, encrypted video clips are stored locally on the device. These clips are then uploaded to the SecureComm Cloud and automatically deleted from the device. Clips are retained in SecureComm for a limited number of days, depending on the SecureComm camera package selected. If no Wi‑Fi connection is available, clips will remain securely stored on the device and will be uploaded automatically once network connectivity is restored.
